A month ago our mail server went down with the following error and basically, that issue won't be fixed in 6.x codestream but is fixed in 7.x:
WAITING FOR FRWSEM 0x0244 database semaphore
As a follow-up, I just read IBM Technote 1202068 - though we haven't had this hang again since applying PTFs and an IPL, this makes me a little more eager to get Domino 7.0 running:

Why does this occur?
The issue occurs because the "NSF buffer pool container" semaphore is being locked while waiting on the call OSAutoFDGDestory.
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# MALR6948NQ. There are currently no plans to address this issue in Notes/Domino 6.x; however, the issue was fixed in Domino 7.x.
