On this day in 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg. While Luther had hoped for an academic discourse and debate regarding the problems of indulgences, the debate never occurred. Instead, the Protestant Reformation, as we know it, had begun.
