Memory Lapse or Hypocrisy?

I blogged last week about America's Iraq policy since 1998. In that I offered the following quote:

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

There was a news story yesterday regarding former President Clinton speaking out against the current President's Iraq policy. In that story we read the following quote by President Clinton:

Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

Sorry Mr. President, but I'm calling you out on that. You knew in 1998 that there were weapons and you did nothing to stop it. You knew in 1998 (and made it policy!) that Saddam Hussein would not let the inspectors do their job. I'll stop there for now without mentioning what else your administration knew before your term was up.

Hey now...it depends on what your definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction is!!

Good catch!

=)

My definition is "something that can kill a lot of people." Kind of like the Sarin that we have already found in Iraq...
