Top 100 Hits The Year I Graduated

Per Libby, "the instructions are: Go to musicoutfitters.com, and do a search on the most popular 100 songs from the year you graduated high school. (You can do this by searching on the year you graduated). Bold the ones you actually like. (Understand that the word "like" in this case means, at the very least, "wouldn't immediately change the radio station from.") Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite. And Strikethru the ones you loathe. Italicizethe ones you consider to be guilty pleasures."

Well, I can't do strikethrough, so I'll bold my favorites and most of them really are horrible anyway!

I'd have to go with Breakfasst at Tiffany's, 'cause I was playing it in a band at that time. Actually, I think that says a lot, because everyone in the band was in their mid 30s to 40s, and there were very, very few current pop songs that we would have even considered playing.

Rich - yeah, that wasn't a good time for pop it seems, or rock. Seattle was in full swing then (which isn't really bad), but from a guy like me who likes Satriani, Dream Theater, Tourniquet, etc... there wasn't much offered then!

What do you play? I'm a guitarist. We need to get a band to play for LS opening session! lol. I was just jamming with some classic Journey (who has an album coming out Oct. 4!), good stuff!

David, I thought when I was writing it that the Black Album didn't sound right, but Until It Sleeps was one of the few songs on Load that stuck with you like some of their earlier stuff.

Oh, no, blog spam! Metallica? You ROCK! And, as they say, Clapton is God. I think that the older I get, the more I appreciate Clapton. 1979 is my all time favorite of the Pumpkins. Maybe it has some significance for me (and Ben?)? LOL! Oh, and #7 - they are from Cleveland.

Chris - I've been playing guitar for a long time, though not particularly well. As the Dire Straits song goes "He got all the chords, But it's strictly rhythm, He don't want to make it cry or sing." And I'm way, way out of practice now, so even rhythm might be pushing it ;-) I did play at a couple of the jam sessions they do at Advisor DevCons, so a few of our fellow Domino bloggers have heard my attempts to play, but I haven't been to a DevCon in several years.

P.S. I didn't start playing until my mid teens, but given when you graduated from high school... when I say I've been "playing for a long time" it means I've been playing for a few more years than you've been breathing :-)

David - I'm not sure I remember seeing the video. But I'm definitely going to be spinning my Metallica at work today! I kind of liked their "new" sound to be honest. It showed a somewhat different side of their artistry. The Frisco Orchestra album was AWESOME! Rumor has it that Dream Theater may do something like that...

Gregg - so SC gets Hootie and Cleveland gets Bone...lol

I don't know how to get around the blog spam here. Maybe just turning off anonymous (sorry Rich...but you could use "Other").

Rich - I'm mostly rhythm, but I do play lead "as needed". I play every week at my church's contemporary service - we do some good stuff... I've been playing since probably around 93/94 (in my teens), so about 12 years now. I think I'm the "kid" in the Domino Blogging community...lol

Y'know... I never even looked that the "other" option. Has it been there all along? ;-)

Chris Whisonant said...

Yes, it's been there. But I believe if I take off Anonymous that Other also goes away... I haven't tested that yet.
