Are you happy Mitch?!?

You (and Mike) should be - your Giants just knocked off the Pats!! Congrats!!

Well... Ummm... Happy New Year!

So, I figure that a week into the year I should at least post something! As you've probably seen from Nathan, Tim, and Mike's blogs, things are pretty fun at Lotus 911 now preparing for Lotusphere 2008... But you'll hear more about that later.

Some random thoughts? Interesting watching the SEC dominating the bowls! If LSU hangs on, then I think the SEC will be 6-1 in bowls this year.

NH primary should be interesting. Will we see another Obama/Huckabee showing? Guess we'll know in 24 hours...

Top 10 Bound

After defeating the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats last night, the Gamecocks should be ranked in the NCAA Top 10 this week!! The player of the game for Carolina was defensive end Eric Norwood - who is from Acworth, GA (where we now live). Kewl! It should be our first Top 10 placement since 2001.

And for kicks, here is the most exciting entrance in College Football. Go Cocks!!!

Good Game Gamecocks!

My favorite team, the #12 Carolina Gamecocks went to Death Valley* today in Louisiana to face the #2 LSU Tigers. It started off with Carolina going up 7-0 followed by 28 unanswered points by LSU. We ended the game with a field goal and touchdown to make it a 28-16 final. While we looked a little messy at times, we actually scored some points against LSU. In the first three games this year, LSU only allowed 7 points total! They're tough and they ran hard against our defense (taking advantage of taking out our star linebacker about 2 minutes into the game).

Oh yeah, what's better is that I watched it at my BFF Chris's house. :)

* - Not to be confused with the copied Death Valley that's in Clemson, SC. This is the team that stole the stadium name, fight song, and mascot from LSU...

Go Gamecocks

With a huge SEC East win tonight against UGA, the USC Gamecocks are at 2-0. My college dorm-mate Jay has some videos of past wins against UGA... :)

Way to go team!!

NCAA Football Is Upon Us....

In honor of that I have changed my blog template colors to reflect my team - The University of South Carolina Gamecocks! We'll see how the year is going to be after this week's matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs...

We Tried And Failed

Well, the Gamecocks came so close to beating Auburn last night! Wow... It came down, literally, to the last play of the game. I wish I had been able to see it. So, now for a question - are the Gamecocks better than I think or is Auburn overrated?

T-Minus 5 Hours!

NCAA Football!!! Specifically, my USC Gamecocks kick off tonight at 8:00. My pal Jay Hardwick has some notes over at his blog. This should be an interesting season. As I stated at Jay's site, if our offensive and defensive lines have improved we should do well. Last year our offensive line just didn't keep it tight the whole game. Blake Mitchell took way too many hits. If he's improved some and has more time in the pocket, then both he and Sidney Rice should have great years!

New #6 NASCAR Driver

If anyone knows me, then you'll know I struggled with putting this image up. I just could not resist. I love the guy and am a listener and supporter. But, this had to be done eventually!!! I figured I may as well do it!

So, I would like to present to you the new driver of the #6 car for NASCAR:

Good Game Eagles!

My hometown team (and my wife's Alma Mater), the Winthrop University Eagles, narrowly lost to the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of March Madness. The 15th seeded Eagles played very strong againt the 2nd seeded Volunteers only losing by 2 points.

Congrats on the great year Eagles!!

How To Beat The Gamecocks (101)

It's really easy - just run the ball on us!

Is Clemson a better team than South Carolina? I don't believe so, but you can't argue with getting beat by them. James Davis ran 145 yards on Carolina! Anyway, we really need to tighten up on the run for next year. We still get a bowl this year, that's definitely a shock with it being Spurrier's first year at SC. We have a lot of potential - especially if we can continue improving the Mitchell/Rice combo.

South Carolina: 2, Orange: 0

For many, many years now, Carolina has had a block of "Orange" games at the end of the year (Tennessee, Florida, and Clemson). We have always struggled with TN and FL (i.e. - never won!) and we could squeak by Clemson sometimes. This year, though, we have somehow beaten TN and FL and we play Clemson this week. Let's hope for 3-0 against Orange! (OK, some may argue that Auburn wears orange too, but it's not much orange...)

Go Gamecocks!!

We finally managed to beat Tennessee!! It was the first time we have ever won in Knoxville and the first win in our past 12 meetings - way to go! We were so close many times during the Holtz era.

You may ask why I'm posting this so late. Well, I had to make sure that my Domino servers didn't get messed up by the time change. While I had my production server down I also loaded 6.5.4 FP2. Will follow-up on that later. Time for bed - again...

Are you happy Mr. Glover?

Well Jerry, it's the 3rd quarter and the Gamecocks are down to Auburn 41-0. I'm calling it quits! We've got 88 TOTAL yards right now and we suck!

I guess 2005 is the year for all the SEC teams to get back at Steve Spurrier. As we true Gamecock fans are used to saying "maybe next year..."

High School Football Week 2

Well, last week the Northwestern High School Trojans lost our starting quarterback. We lost to Spartanburg on Friday night 26-21. The 2nd string QB did step up and he played well.

We are 1-1 now...

High School Football

Well, it's on! Last night was the first full week here. My Alma Mater, the Northwestern High School Trojans in Rock Hill, SC got a win. They generally are a fairly dominant force along with our cross-town rival the Rock Hill High School Bearcats.

However, we have a new high school in town and this dropped us down from 4A to 3A. So in our season opener we played Charlotte Country Day school - the reigning 3A State Champs from NC. We beat them 20-9, so it appears that we will have a pretty good season in 3A! We also have a new head coach this year. We play Spartanburg High School next week (4A).

Go Trojans!!

Curt Schilling Too Big For His Breeches!

What a hack! First of all, know that this post is about a Red Sox pitcher by a Yankees fan. Take it as you will.

Mr. Schilling is on injured reserve and the big to-do in our town is that he was pitching tonight for his farm team - the Charlotte Knights. The team, by the way, is actually not even in Charlotte or even in North Carolina for that matter! It's in Fort Mill, SC, the town between Rock Hill, SC and Charlotte, NC.

Anyway, I asked my buddy Chris Moody to get me an autograph on my Yankees baseball cap. I figured Schilling would like that. =) Anyway, the guy wasn't even signing autographs. The dude gets demoted to the farm squad in small-town America and he can't even sign some autographs. My old roomie even drove a whole hour to see him!

Check out Moody's blog for some pics...
